Trade & Investment Task Force Meeting in Paris

The Trade & Investment Task Force Meeting was held on Monday 28th of May in the framework of the OECD Week in Paris.

The session was chaired by Paolo Rocca (B20 Trade and Investment Chair & Techint Group President) alongside Ines Van Lierde (B20 Trade and Investment Co-Chair & AEGIS Chair), Armando Garza Sada (B20 Trade & Investment Chair & Alfa Group President) and Sergio Kaufman (B20 Trade & Investment Knowledge Partner & Accenture Argentina President).

The Task Force continued to work on their policy recommendations. The topics discussed were fostering competitive neutrality principles for state-owned enterprises, the promotion of new frameworks and rules for the digital age and the importance of the WTO as the centrepiece of the international trading system.

“B20 is a unique opportunity to listen to the opinion of the business community on a global scale. The topics the Trade & Investment task force is focusing on include: the removal of market distortions to achieve a balance in the exchange (leveled playfield), the inclusion of SMEs in trade by its incorporation in the Global Value Chains (GVCs), the consensual regulation of e-business, including cyber-security and data protection, the strengthening of the OMC´s role to promote multilateral trade” stated Paolo Rocca.

The task force will continue its work with teleconference meetings in the next couple of months to arrive to a final policy document to be presented to G20 leaders.
